What's Next: A Vision of the Future

Reaching South Florida and the world!

The disciples taught us about how to grow a ministry; they went from own to town, city to city, preaching the gospel and planting churches. Our mission mirrors their mission . . . sharing the gospel and making disciples until the whole world hears. We’ve found that one of the best ways to do this is being one church that meets in multiple locations, sharing a common vision.

Vision – The ability to think about or plan the future with imagination and wisdom.
Even before our first service, God gave Diane and me a vision to plant Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale.
That vision led us to take a leap of faith and leave Las Vegas and drive across the country. Since then, God has blessed that vision far beyond what we could ask, think, or imagine.
By His great grace and through that vision God has transformed thousands of lives that none of us could have anticipated 26 years ago. And we believe that God wants to use our church to transform many more! Through prayer, conversation with leadership, and countless meetings with many of you, God has given us a fresh, bold vision for the future that is calling us to invest in areas of ministry that He has revealed as having the potential for greater fruit.
The Call
God has called us to reach those who don’t know and haven’t heard, to make disciples of all nations, and to make an investment to influence every generation. He is showing us where to sow for the greatest harvest.
The Concept
We have numerous opportunities to enhance our stewardship of God’s incredible provision of resources. Our mission to “make disciples” challenges us to step into the future boldly, looking for every opportunity to improve our delivery of discipleship. There is a lot out there to consider!
The Cost
You’ve heard me say it before; it’s not about the buildings it’s about the body. Our heart is to reach more people with the good news!
Of course there is a real cost attached to investing in this vision. To accomplish this vision, the total is close to 17 million dollars. By the way, did you know that the Coconut Creek Casino is closing in on completing a 125 million dollar expansion? We know that our God is bigger than any dollar amount attached to a vision. We believe that He will continue to do what He has always done since He birthed this vision in our hearts, faithfully providing for His purpose.
As we begin to share the vision and you read the details of What’s Next, my prayer is that three things would happen in your heart: 1. You have excitement for the adventure and anticipation for the future. 2. You feel a close connection to this ministry so that you invest your time, talent, and treasures to reach the lost and make disciples. 3. You continue to be perfected, seeing the hand of Him who began the good work in you, continue that good work as you grow in your trust in Him.
“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”—Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)

Youth Outreach
What’s next in Youth Outreach? Our high school students will be leading companies, churches, and even our nation. This is the time to equip them, not overlook them. We want to give them a space they can call their own, a youth center where we can make disciples at a phase in their lives that is so critical.
And as we look into the future, we also want to make a way for kids and adults who don’t have a lot in life. We want to provide financial aid to help students reach their full potential.
At CCA, we have been given an incredible opportunity in our merger with Fort Lauderdale Christian School. Over the next three years, we’ll be able to impact an additional 250 families with the gospel of Christ!

Community Outreach
We want to continue expanding our outreach to the community through our regional campuses. Over the past several years, our regional campuses have impacted 5,000 lives with over 2,000 souls coming to Christ!
So how else can we reach our community? Well, there are plenty of people that would never venture into a church sanctuary—but they may come to a sports event. Sporting events yield spiritual fruit! Opposing team members have accepted Christ after CCA games. Forty kids received Jesus as their Savior at a Football and Cheer Clinic for children of incarcerated parents. By expanding our Community Sports Outreach, we hope to provide a place for many more families to come together and find health and strength in their bodies and spirits.

World Outreach
To date, our Patmos Reality Discipleship program has hosted 187 students. We hope to establish more Patmos locations in key countries like India, Brazil, and Colombia. We want to help establish Bible colleges, minister to AIDS patients, and help rescue women and children caught in human trafficking.
Through our media outreach no other ministry at Calvary Chapel has a higher potential to reach more people for Christ. We’re sending each service’s message to hundreds of thousands of people globally over the Internet.
