You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat.--Isaiah 25:4 (NIV)
The Refuge has become a sanctuary for many men and women who walk from downtown Fort Lauderdale to the Cooperative Feeding Program (www.feedingbroward.org), west of I-95, where services are held. It caters to the homeless and low-income families, and it is run by Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale.
Worship and Bible study begin at 10am outside in the parking lot, lunch is served from 11am-noon, and then an additional Bible study called DEEP Faith is offered, where they learn more about what it means to be a Christian.
As a result, hearts are being softened and seeds are being sown. Many people have met Jesus in a personal way since the ministry began a little over a year ago. Over 30 volunteers show up each week to give selflessly and share the gospel.
If you have a heart to serve in this ministry please stop by the Volunteer Booth in the Church Lobby before or after any service.
