What is the CCFL Refuge Ministry?
-
Adopt-A-Block
We meet the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month at 9:30am on the site of "The Co-Operative Feeding Program", located at 33rd Terr. and Broward Blvd. in Ft. Lauderdale. We outreach to the community surrounding the Refuge with a simple philosophy…each team knocks on 20 doors and asks how they can serve those households.
We have painted, gardened, cleaned, and distributed school supplies and groceries. This ministry is a way to SHOW the Gospel first (Matt 5:16) and look for ways to share with and pray for people as we invite them to the Sunday church service. We have seen all ages, from teenagers to retired people, come to the Refuge and attend DEEP Faith classes because we first went out and served them. We have currently adopted four blocks in the community.
- Celebrate Recovery
This is a weekly Christ-centered recovery program. The format for each meeting includes worship, teaching and small group discussion. We are the only Celebrate Recovery group that is targeting homeless people!
- Clothing Ministry
Weekly, we spend time “one on one” with people who have an urgent need for clothing. We minister to them both physically and spiritually, sharing the Gospel with them and praying for them. On the last Sunday of each month, we hold a large, outdoor clothing event, where we set up tables and distribute the clothing we have collected.
- DEEP FAITH 1&2
Each Sunday at 12 noon we offer both “Exploring” and “Experiencing the Faith.” We have had people graduate from both courses! This is an excellent forum for answering people’s questions about faith, as well as helping them become disciples.
- Feeding Program
Each week we offer a hot meal to our guests immediately following the Sunday service. This is our opportunity to live out Matt 25 and meet the physical need of hunger.
- Movie Night Outreach
This is a monthly opportunity for the community to watch a free Christian movie outside in the Co-op parking lot. We serve popcorn and lemonade, and a short message is preached at the end.
- Sunday Church Service
This is our weekly opportunity to offer our guests a time of worship, Bible study, prayer and communion, in an effort to make disciples. (This is why we started the Refuge)
- Special Events
Each Christmas, Easter, and Thanksgiving we serve a full banquet to the poor and needy. This is our Luke 14:12-14 event. Along with the special meal, we have worship and always preach the Gospel. These events have been great opportunities to bless the community and mobilize many volunteers from CCFTL.
