A Discipleship Ministry For Men That Have An Evident Desire To Deny Themselves And Follow Christ

Purpose: To minister to men in bondage who are in desperate need of healing by teaching and encouraging them to attain the liberty that is available in Jesus Christ. We minister to men inside and outside of the church body with life-controlling struggles who are seeking to be over-comers through Christ, but are in need of a more structured environment than regular church services can provide to obtain spiritual victory.

While Calvary House is a great opportunity for many men, it is definitely NOT for everybody. We ARE NOT a crisis center, homeless shelter or a halfway house. The interview process takes between three to five days and ultimately ends with an invitation to be a student, or referrals for other ministries that may be a better fit for the individual. Calvary House seeks to accept students that we’re equipped to minister to. In order to be considered as an invitee the candidate must meet the following criteria.

Eligibility

  • You must be born-again
  • Willing to make a 10 – 12 month commitment to the Lord and Calvary House
  • Be between the ages of 22 and 50 years old
  • Be physically able to do hard manual labor
  • Not be on any prescription medications that are addictive or potentially abusive (as determined by Calvary House leadership)
  • Be detoxed from any and all alcohol and narcotics for a minimum of 30 days
  • No outstanding arrest warrants or pending litigation (probation/parole may be acceptable. To be determined by Calvary House leadership)
  • No sexual crimes or domestic assault convictions

FAQ

Q: My friend/relative has a drug/alcohol problem, how can I help them?

A: The best thing to do is to have them personally contact us at 954-943-8328. Many well-intentioned family and friends want to help by not only getting phone numbers, but trying to get as much information for their friend as possible. We would prefer to speak directly with them so that if we aren't a good fit, we can at least refer them to some other ministries or programs that may be a better alternative for them.

Q: My life is falling apart because of my continued addiction.  What do I do?

A: The first step is to recognize that these are symptoms of the problem. The root of the problem is the spiritual condition of their heart, called SIN. In Galatians 5:19-21 the bible explains that this is just one of the acts of the sinful nature of mankind. The next step is to acknowledge that what is missing can’t be filled by anything other than a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Then, to accept the free gift of eternal life that He offers as well as the freedom from habitual sin found in John 8:36 Of course anyone taking these steps will need the support of the body of Christ. Our church offers several ministries to support new Christians. DEEP Faith on Mondays as well as Free Indeed Over-Comers in Christ on Thursdays. Our church also offers free Biblical Counseling to anyone that is open to hearing sound, godly advice from the Bible.
